Making real change in our communities to improve healthy eating and active living opportunities is going to take time, and it's going to take the involvement of everyone. It's about designing communities that help make the healthy choice the easy choice. It's about establishing governmental and institutional policies that ensure that physical activity and access to healthy food are priorities in planning and development. And it's about taking personal responsibility to improve our own neighborhoods and our family's health.
How can you get involved?
Find the issue or program that you're passionate about and start making a change. Our Action Plans in the Healthy Eating and Active Living sections of this website are a great place to start. Learn how to go about starting a Walking School Bus or a Community Garden, and then make it happen.
Join us for healthy eating and active living-related events sponsored by KC Healthy Kids or our partners and featured on our event calendar. We bring in national speakers and local experts to learn best practices and start moving our community forward toward a common goal of a healthier community.
Visit our Legislative Action Center, where we post local, state or national policy issues of interest to advocates for healthy eating and active living. Whether we're asking you to contact your Senator about funding Child Nutrition Programs or your City Councilwoman about supporting a local Complete Streets policy, we'll provide the background information you need to write a letter or make a call in support of the issues you're passionate about.
And donate to KC Healthy Kids to support our work to make Greater Kansas City a healthier community. Help us create a community where the healthy choice is the easy choice.
