Statewide Partnerships
KC Healthy Kids strives to collaborate with and support statewide efforts in Kansas and Missouri that work to create healthier children. Below are a few of the partnerships KC Healthy Kids is proud to participate in:
Missouri Coordinated School Health Coalition
Formed as a result of the Governor's School Health Summit in 1994, the Coalition represents 36 state agencies and organizations that advocate for Coordinated School Health Programs. (CSHPs seek to improve students' physical, mental and social well-being through a school's instruction, services, and physical and social environments.) The Coalition developed the "School Health Advisory Council Guide" to help schools establish local councils.
Kansas Coordinated School Health
Funded by the State of Kansas, the Kansas Coordinated School Health program brings together two state agencies - Kansas Department of Health and Environment and Kansas State Department of Education - to implement the eight-component approach to educating youth on healthy behaviors and attitudes.
Missouri Council for Activity and Nutrition
The Missouri Council for Activity and Nutrition (MoCAN) is a broad partnership that informs, advocates, and mobilizes members to disseminate and implement obesity prevention best practices in Missouri communities. MoCAN fosters and supports healthy eating and active living through policy and environmental changes to measurably improve the health and quality of life of Missouri residents.
