Natasha Ria El-Scari and Beth Low-Smith presented the original artwork created for KC Voices to the Jackson County Legislators at their meeting July 1. The works by Natasha, Jt Daniels and Cheyenne Banda will be on display on the 2nd floor of the Jackson County Courthouse through the month of July, and will travel to KCK’s city hall in August.
County Legislator Crystal Williams presented the team with a courtesy proclamation recognizing KC Voices partnering organizations, the artists and the importance of changing the narrative about nutrition assistance programs like SNAP, WIC and school nutrition programs.
KC Voices is a collaborative effort to involve residents and stakeholders in racially diverse neighborhoods in KCK and KCMO in sharing stories and information about how food policies shape our community, our opportunities and our plates. Funding for this project was provided by the Health Forward Foundation and the Convergence Partnership.
