Kansas City is lucky to have so many farmers markets! There is one in just about every neighborhood. Most markets require the sellers to identify whether or not they grew the produce they are selling. Other markets are less strict and allow some sellers to buy produce from a warehouse or auction and resell that product without letting the customer know. A few markets are more strict and only accept local food producers who grow using organic methods.
The best way to know what you're buying is to ask the farmers or market managers questions about their requirements.
