Trauma Informed Care
Trauma informed care is a perspective which assists people in understanding how widespread trauma is, how trauma impacts people and ways in which people can sensitively and safely approach others. It was initially developed for people in human service fields but it is applicable to anyone who interacts with others. The importance of self-care is also emphasized during most trauma informed care trainings.
Trauma informed care training is currently being offered to 6 early childhood education centers in the Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS metropolitan areas by Nancy C. Osborn, Ph.D. Dr. Osborn brings her 30 year plus history of providing therapy to children and families, and her years of providing trauma informed care training to mental health professionals and teachers to this project.
Dr. Osborn has developed 15 hours of training focused on trauma informed care, social-emotional development and self-care strategies for both children and adults. For more information, contact Dr. Nancy C Osborn at ncosborn@kchealthykids.org
