Navigating Planning and Zoning
This resource is to help prospective or practicing urban farmers navigate local planning and zoning. It defines common planning terms, outlines planning processes, explains zoning regulations, and recommends questions to raise with planning staff. If your municipality does not have a planning department, contact the city administrator or manager instead. The general information provided is applicable to urban farmers in any municipality in the region, but direct links to planning departments and zoning ordinances are provided for Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri.
