Congratulations, M.E. Pearson! Fifth graders from Jolynna Addink’s class at M.E. Pearson Elementary in Kansas City, Kansas won the grand prize in the pitch contest at our Champions for Health Youth Summit yesterday. Their entry to the I Am Here photo contest won them first place in their grade level giving them the opportunity to make a pitch to an audience of peer judges at the summit. Their wizard-themed pitch included ideas for a Zumba party and new recess equipment, plus health carnival to connect their school with their community in a fun way, and a healthy food snack shop. “Kids get hungry before lunch, but we need to eat healthy to focus on learning. So, we will use the money to open the Bibbity Bobbity Food Snack Shop. These nutritional snacks will give us magical powers to succeed in school,” the kids said in their pitch.
