SNAP puts food within reach for hungry families

We’ve always fought to defend Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or food stamps). Now that more people need assistance, we’re focused on increasing benefits and making it easier and safer for people to apply.

SNAP in Kansas

Kansas Department of Children and Families Service Centers are currently closed to the public but are still operating.

If you’re thinking about applying for SNAP in Kansas:

• Paper applications can be picked up and submitted outside Service Centers or check your eligibility and apply online. Find a Service Center
• Telephone interviews will be allowed instead of face-to-face interviews until May 31, 2020.
• You will automatically receive the maximum amount of monthly benefits allowed for your household size for March and April 2020.

If you’re currently receiving SNAP benefits in Kansas:

• Benefits set to expire in March, April or May 2020 will be automatically extended for six months until September, October and November 2020.
• Monthly benefits will be automatically increased to the maximum amount allowed for your household size for March and April 2020. Note that you may already be receiving the maximum amount.

SNAP in Missouri

Missouri Department of Social Services offices are currently closed to the public but are still operating.

If you’re thinking about applying for SNAP in Missouri:

• Apply online, download a paper application or call 855-FSD-INFO (855-373-4636). Completed paper applications should be sent by email to [email protected] or fax to 573-526-9400.
• Telephone interviews will be allowed instead of face-to-face interviews until May 31, 2020.
• You will automatically receive the maximum amount of monthly benefits allowed for your household size for March and April 2020.
• P-EBT, a temporary benefit for households with kids who receive free or reduced-price school meals while schools are closed, is now available. You do not have to participate in SNAP to receive P-EBT. If your kids did not previously receive free or reduced-priced school meals but you have lost income, you may qualify for P-EBT. By May 29 you should receive a letter from your school district with income guidelines and information about applying. You must apply for P-EBT by June 30, 2020. More info

If you’re currently receiving SNAP benefits in Missouri:

• Benefits set to expire in March, April or May 2020 will be automatically extended for six months until September, October and November 2020.
• Monthly benefits will be automatically increased to the maximum amount allowed for your household size for March and April 2020. Note that you may already be receiving the maximum amount.
• P-EBT, a temporary benefit for households with kids who receive free or reduced-price meals while schools are closed, is now available. If you received SNAP benefits in March, P-EBT will be automatically added to your EBT card. More info
