Senate Assessment and Taxation Committee will hold a hearing on Senate Concurrent Resolution 1604 on Thursday, February 1 at 9:30 a.m.. SCR 1604 was introduced by Senator Tom Holland and others last year and stipulates that a constitutional amendment would be placed on the next statewide general election ballot. That means Kansans could vote on a stair step reduction in sales tax on food from the current 6.5% to 2% over the course of several years.
