Every ten years, the census counts every person living in the United States. The results of the census are used to:
Kansas and Missouri receive billions of dollars through federal programs every year, and the amount of funding is calculated based on census data. These federal programs fund education, transportation and emergency preparedness. They provide health care, nutrition assistance and school meals for kids and families in our community. People who benefit most from these programs are often hard to count, like kids, immigrants, people of color and low-income residents. When these communities are undercounted, these programs are underfunded. This is why it’s important that we have a complete count. Complete the CensusThere are three ways to respond to the census:
The census form is available in 13 languages online and by phone. Census guides are available in 60 languages, including American Sign Language, as well as large print and braille. Language Support Your responses to the census are protected private information. By law, your responses cannot be shared with other departments or agencies.
