A Meal That Counts as well as its farmers help to create sustainability for its communities by giving back to help fight food anxiety within the community. We opened our doors October 2020 and we have helped many families and seniors in our community since. We have partnered with 30+ vendors and farmers since opening. A Meal That Counts feeds over 35 families in the school district every other week and over 20+ seniors M-F. Our mission is to help bring our local farmers and community back together again creating sustainability with and for the community.

Hello! We are David's Pasture: a multi-generational multi-family multi-species pasture-based farm just east of the KC area started in 2011 by the Kesten family. We believe in working with Creation to heal the ground and ourselves. We raise cattle swine chickens turkeys and ducks out on pasture using intensive rotation and regenerative practices. We want to build up healthy soil and raise happy animals! We also want a more transparent food system: come tour our farm in the summer and see what we do. We deliver meats and eggs to homes like yours on a weekly basis. Our farm is 50 miles south of Kansas City in Adrian, MO. We offer grass-fed grass-finished beef & lamb, forest-raised pork, pasture-raised chicken and turkey. Our goal is to provide you with naturally raised wholesome food using regenerative farming methods that mimic the patterns found in nature. We use rotational grazing to raise our cattle and sheep. They are moved daily around our farm to new pastures and fresh forage. The chickens and turkeys live out on pasture in mobile coops. We move them every morning to a clean area of pasture where they can scratch and range for grasses and bugs in addition to their non-GMO feed.
What is forest-raised pork? Pigs that live in the forest! This is the ideal environment for a pig. They use their snout to root around and turn up the ground uncovering food on the forest floor. They also have access to non-GMO feed. Good bacon comes from happy pigs!

Our cattle are born and raised on our family owned and operated 670-acre Ranch just outside of Lawrence, Kansas. We have sold our meat direct since 2006. As of 8-10-2020 we also have Barnard Processing which completes our Farm To Fork operation. Our meats are all dry aged and processed under USDA Inspection. Our goal has been and remains to connect awesome farmers with happy eaters!
